A Day in the Life of a Multi-Business Owner: Insights and Realities

Running a business is no easy feat—but running multiple? That’s a whole different level of juggling, organizing, and showing up with purpose. As a multi-business owner, my days are a careful dance between structure and spontaneity, planning and pivoting, ambition and alignment.

Whether you’re dreaming of starting your second venture, curious about how people manage multiple hats, or simply seeking solidarity in the chaos—this blog is for you.

Morning: Intentional Beginnings & Quick Wins

I start my mornings with intention. Before the inboxes and client messages come flooding in, I prioritize a quiet moment—whether it’s journaling, a long shower, or just reviewing my planner with a hot coffee in hand.

By 7:00am, I’m usually diving into the first to-dos of the day. This often includes:

  • Reviewing overnight updates from my team or clients

  • Finalizing content or sending invoices

  • Checking in with my business dashboards (yes, plural!)

Every task is broken down in a central project management tool like Asana, and I allocate specific time blocks for each business.

Mid-Morning: Meetings, Movement, and Momentum

Between 9am and noon, I’m often in meetings—whether it's planning an event, discussing a new photography client, or hosting a coaching session. This is also when I try to step outside, move my body, or even take client calls while walking.

Being a multi-business owner means variety, but it also means clarity. I have to be super clear on the goals for each brand to avoid blending them into one overwhelming blob.

Afternoon: Deep Work & Creative Output

Afternoons are for focus. I block out this time to work in the businesses:

  • Editing photos or videos

  • Writing webinar content

  • Preparing decks or resources for my community

  • Building out systems and automations

I also try to schedule at least one hour a week for “dream space”—this is where I let the creative energy flow freely. Whether it’s sketching out a new idea, envisioning long-term goals, or just journaling, this space fuels everything else.

Evening: Family, Reflection & Unfinished Tasks

I wind down around 4:30-5pm and shift into mum-mode. Dinner, playtime, cuddles—and lots of laughter (and sometimes a bit of chaos). I’ve learned to put my phone down and be present.

Once the kids are in bed, I do a quick wrap-up of any unfinished tasks or prep for tomorrow. Some nights I’m filled with energy and creativity, and other nights I’m totally spent. I’ve come to respect both.

The Truth? It’s Not Always Glamorous—But It Is Worth It.

Running multiple businesses is equal parts thrilling and challenging. It’s messy. It’s unpredictable. But it’s also incredibly empowering.

Here are a few truths I’ve learned:

  • Boundaries and routines are everything.

  • Delegation isn’t optional—it’s vital.

  • Your energy is your most valuable currency.

  • Success looks different every day.

If you’re managing more than one dream right now, I see you. And if you’re thinking about expanding into a second or third venture, know this: it is possible—with support, systems, and a whole lot of self-compassion.

Let’s keep the conversation going—what does your daily rhythm look like as a business owner? Or what would you love to create if time and energy were no barrier?
